Hey everyone and welcome back to more Railroads Online! Today we are going to test the newly built mountain pass with some loaded cordwood cars! The smelter needs cordwood and iron so before we hook up the iron mine it is important to make sure the smelter can receive the fuel it needs to run!

09.05.2022In a real steam locomotive, you definitely don't want to run out of water because it can cause the boiler to explode. In addition to being the working fluid for the pistons, water also provides cooling for the firebox and boiler tubes. If the water gets too low, the heat goes up, in the now un-cooled parts and the steam increases in pressure while the metal weakens from the high heat and then ka-boom.

09.05.2022It's sad that as a railroader I spotted you lining the switch at the smelter the wrong way as you did it. It was only a matter of waiting after that to see the consequence.

09.05.2022You could've just hooked the back of the cordwood dropoff into the main line

09.05.2022I think you can wiggle the track between 2 platforms so I'm gonna try that

09.05.2022Hey kAN, loving your content at the moment. I've been running the Class 70 for a while (And they just added the brake to it, thank goodness) and I have set a hard limit on my railways of a 25 degree angle on my track when going round corners. The class 70 clears it fine so long as you aren't going full throttle. And since that's the biggest locomotive you can get right now, I'm sure all other locomotives would clear it just fine.

09.05.2022why is cutting down a tree cost money?
you should get money for it.
tree -> wood -> money

05.05.2022A hint for buying new wagons. Buy only 2. Couple them and only move forward till the spawn is clear, then buy 2 new wagons. Rinse and repeat.
And something for those "no driver and use the switch" stunts. Let the train roll and slightly apply the brake so you don´t have a runaway train.

05.05.2022The devs should make it so you can have tracks snap to the middle of the groundwork and bridges so it is faster to make tracks.

05.05.2022The reverser (cutoff) is not exactly like a gear system. It controls the valves for the cylinder (and internal piston) to control both which direction the train moves, but also how much steam(power) is used. Typically you start at full (100%) cutoff and once the train gets moving you start (high torque) to reduce the cutoff level to save steam and shorten the power stroke (you gradually reduce it to 25% to get full speed and maximum efficiency). At zero cutoff the both the steam intake and vent valve (the spool valve) are closed and the air in the cylinders will just repeatedly compress and release as the piston moves forward and backward, causing a slight damping effect. To coast in a real steam train you would leave the reverser in its position and bring the steam regulator to zero (and also dampen the fire to not over-pressure the boiler on a long descent).
I am not sure how accurately this game models all of that as I have not had much time to play this game, and I find the current track tools rather fiddly.

05.05.2022Can’t you make a s bend thing to get to the chord wood or a slightly angled track towards it?

05.05.2022just put 3 on front of the train and 3 on back and go around when unloading

05.05.2022I'm not sure about American switches, you do some pretty weird stuff over there (sorry 😅😅😅), but usually a wrongly set switch will just be re-set by the train. Depending on the switch lock's construction that might get damaged, while damage to the train, let alone a derail, is very improbable. And if it did derail, it wouldn't happen by stopping dead like if it did hit a buffer.
But that's really nitpicky – until now (mind I've seen only a few episodes, not the whole series) it all reaaaally looks amazingly accurate. The inaccuracies I did spot so long only happen when things have gone wrong/been done wrong before, like taking the switch the wrong way.

05.05.2022I love your videoes! Btw you can have your stats open while unloading, so you can see your money increase.

04.05.2022He could just do a switch at the end of the ore drop off to the cordwood drop off.

04.05.2022I’m thinking they should add multi lane switches and drop off points that sync to what ever place your at cause if you have a massive empire with only two drop off points at that size you’ll have a lot back traffic

04.05.2022the game sucks…. bought it watching these videos looks fun but he's not lying it does take hours to do a simple project….. i spent an hour trying to get a single turn decent…….. and the tools are just gross to work with…. glad to see kan likes it, i personally think kan is a masochist <_< this game is torture in it's current state…. but but but….. "i like trains -_-"…. (the track laying system sucks and could use a major overhaul with addition features… i refunded it but goddddddd)

04.05.2022The "degree" will always be lower than the "percent". 1 foot gained over 1 foot will be a 100% incline. Or 45 deg.

04.05.2022wait till they have Consequences for running out of water, water keeps the bottom metal of the boiler cool enough to not melt internally

04.05.2022Some train yards will have the train push I to the other cars then connect them to the train
loganbaileysfunwithtrains
04.05.2022On the downhill run, you wouldn’t even need a locomotive, you could just use the handbrake on the cars to hold the speed steady, of course you’d need a locomotive to bring them back to the top

03.05.2022For iron shipments you can make a long train out of iron cars and then make the last 3 cordwood cars so that you can pass through normally and then back the end of your train into the cordwood deposit.

I don't know how you do it but the "wholesomeness" values are off the charts… Especially that last part! It left a nice feeling as a close to the episode. 👍👍

02.05.2022At 34:15, you bump the three empties that you just deposited on the other track. It's fine at these low speeds, since damage isn't implemented, but be sure to clear your switches in case you foul a switch for a higher-speed train!

02.05.2022So that random bit of track behind your base that you didnt know what it was before and had the invisible building, i think that is the viewing spot for when you order your locomotives and carts. Its where the camera moves and displays all the things loading in before moving them to that section of track you pick it up from.
Im watching these a bit out of order i know but just in case you didnt figure it out yet, wanted to say.
